Donation：寄付
先日、 The Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org/) に、750 ドル（８万円強）ほど寄付した。

以前からずっとずっとやりたいと思っていたし、タイミング的にも丁度良いと判断したのだ。
＃何故750ドル？ ... PayPal のlimit だったりするのよ ... (*^-^*)
前から、「日本からの寄付がもう少しあってもいいだろうになあ」と思っていたんだけど、日本の商慣習として「小切手」というのがあまりないし、（会社内で）決済権を有する人間がPayPalを使うとも思えない ... 少し改善すれば（例えば銀行振込）もっと寄付金増えるだろうに、とは常々思っていて。
問題提起としても、私がやるのが一番良かっただろうし。これもまた「貢献」の一つかな。 （私の行動原理／原則は、自分の行動により（例え、それが「（意図的な）悪い石」であろうが「良い石」であろうが ... 確実に「波（Wave）」を生む、という事）他人が動かされるモチベーションになり得る、という事）
これで、日本からの送金が少しは増えてくるかな？
＃何事にも「先達」はあらまほしき事なり、ですから(*^-^*)
（ちなみに、あと750ドル近くは追加寄付する予定）
Ciphire Mail というサービスの案内が来た。
案内と言うか招待か。
apache.org は一応 "non-profit organization" だから 招待されたってのもあるんだろ～な。 。。。って勝手に思ったら、そもそもこの 「Email Encryption」技術の作者（彼はドイツ？スイス？）からの invitation でもあったのか……(^^;

Ciphire (= cipher ?) ... German word?
I had come to the conclusion that the number of the subscribers to this mailing list (Apache XML Announcement list: announcements@xml.apache.org) has been on the decrease -- Oct. 2003: (total 2129) to Sep. 2004: (total 1953)
On the contrary,
announcements@jakarta.apache.org -- Oct. 2003: (total 5176) to Sep. 2004: (total 6599)
announce@apache.org -- Oct. 2003: (total 8409) to Sep. 2004: (total 9755)
"On the Decrease" means that people (users) have not been able to reach to the appropriate information. People are not always wise enough to reach to the information which suppliers intend to lead them to.
I have been watching these for long. Nice experiment it was.

http://subversion.tigris.org/ をeclipseで使うプラグイン。eclipseの更新マネージャーに、http://subclipse.tigris.org/update で登録すると使えるようになる。
こんなのあったの知らなかった ... 不覚。
徐々に、OSS開発で CVS のかわりに SVNを使うのが増えてきたので、必須かも知れない :-)
勿論、本家の http://subclipse.tigris.org/ や Tortoise SVN をクライアントとして使ってもOK
因みに、これを使って Apache Software Foundation のプロジェクトのファイルを取ってくる場合：
URLは、http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf 。まだJakartaのものは移行していないが、結構多くのプロジェクトが既にSVNに移行中。ま、Subversion 自体 ASF の連中が作ったやつなので当然言えば当然か .... (^_^)

Apache XML Project とか Apache Jakarta, WebServices 等どんどん移行していったら、やっぱり「SVN HowTo」を（英語で）書かないといけないよな～。今の「CVS HowTo」は Obsolete になっていきそう。
