Ciphire Mail というサービスの案内が来た。
案内と言うか招待か。
apache.org は一応 "non-profit organization" だから 招待されたってのもあるんだろ~な。 。。。って勝手に思ったら、そもそもこの 「Email Encryption」技術の作者(彼はドイツ?スイス?)からの invitation でもあったのか……(^^;
#あ~、俺むかし apache.org のインフラチームに結構 PKI 関連 の 技術
#の話題出してたから、関心あると思ったんだろうか……
流行るといい……な。

I asked them it comes from Cipher and Fire, so Ciphire and it's pronounced like CiphireFire would have been with out the extra letters. The logo is cool:)
Posted by: tzotlan at 2005年01月01日 15:08Hi tzotlan,
Thank you for the info. Well, i see. Cipher/Fire --> Ciphier ... COOL! :)
I noticed that we could use this ciphier on Becky!2 -- one of the most popular mail client software in Japan (for experienced internet users). Good news for the developers, i believe.
Dunno, I am using it on Mac and it works marvelously, with both of my email clients. What Ciphire will do on Windows I don't know but I think it'll also be transparent, so it would work with any email client, even Becky;) Never heard of that one before, seems to be a Japanese thing, funny that such things still exist in Internet times. Maybe you want to show Becky to the Ciphire ppl, they would be able to tell you whether it would work. Happy New Year from Berlin!
tzot
btw Where you at 21c3 or how did you hear of Ciphire?

Becky! -- http://www.rimarts.co.jp/becky.htm
As "Bat!" is famous for those using Cyrillic alphabet (Russians etc.), "Becky!" is popular among the Japanese. Very nice mail client for windows i think.
There are even German Community for Becky! users, if i remember correctly.
